Saving Money While Dropping Pounds

Going on a diet without going broke in the process is certainly possible. All this requires is some pre-planning and some slight adjustments on your part. Here are a few ideas:

•Create a shopping list. Going to the grocery store without specific focus will lead to expensive impulse buys.

• Purchase in-season fruits and vegetables. You can often find great deals on such produce and enjoy the great taste as well.

• Purchase frozen fruits and vegetables. These are often bagged shortly after harvesting and thus retain much of their nutritional value. Frozen produce also lasts longer than fresh.

• Support a local grower. Visit a farmer’s market for some excellent selection and cost savings.

• Make your own food. Reacquaint yourself with your own kitchen instead of eating out. Prepare bag lunches for work and/or use a crock-pot to cook up a delicious stew. Freeze those leftovers to enjoy another time.

•Take your favorite musical artist along with you for a brisk walk at a fraction of the price by borrowing/renting a c.d.

And, after saving so much money while losing weight, you also don’t have to break the bank to buy a new wardrobe. Just head to consignment stores to shop for smaller clothes on a budget!

Got a Cold? Get over It!

This cold and flu season has been reported as one of the worst. Boost your immune system naturally with Vitamin C. Because Vitamin C is water soluble, you can safely take a lot without hurting yourself. One study found that people who took large doses of Vitamin C at the beginning of a cold actually shortened the duration of their illness. Pass the Vitamin C – and the tissues.

The other thing to keep an eye on is your immune system. If your immune system is weak and you have a tendancy to catch colds, you should boost your immune system with supplements, as well as good nutrition. While cold weather may tempt you to eat heartier foods like stews and burgers, you do need to make sure you increase your fruit and vegetables!

Yes, Women CAN Lift Weights

Afraid of lifting weights because you might end up with big, bulky muscles? Not at all! Big muscles come from lifting heavy weights. To lean up and burn fat, women should do multiple repetitions with lighter weights. Try 10 sets of 10 arm curls with 2 pound weights. It may seem light, but the results will be long lean arms in time for summer.

Omega-3 – the Super Heart Supplement

Got your tackle box? Bait? Rubber boots? Fishing pole? It’s time to go fishing to improve your health! Your catch of the day will be more Omega 3 fatty acids!

Omega-3 fatty acids may have been medically proven to:

· reduce heart disease
· decrease blood clots
· prevent cancer
· reduce depression and lessen risk of dementia (e.g.: Alzheimer’s disease).

One of the best sources for Omega 3 is fish oils. Dietary guidelines, long recommended by the American Heart Association, urge adults to eat a minimum of two servings of fish per week … fish including salmon, Albacore tuna, mackerel, herring and sardines. If cooking fish is a bother, you can always find fish oil supplements and/or Krill Oil to add to your diet.

So, go ahead and drop your fishing line and don’t let those Omega 3 fatty acids be the ones that got away!

bio-nutrient Omega-3 Fish Oil is the best supplement to add to your diet:

- 100% harvested from the fish of the deep sea waters of the North Atlantic Ocean
- Molecularly distilled for maximum purity
- Mercury Free
- Never a bad "fishy" after-taste, no burb formula
- Easy to swallow softgel capsules
- 1,000 mg of concentrated fish oil per capsule

Get the Support You Need to Lose the Weight

Congratulations! You’ve finally made the decision to start your diet today. Or you might have already gone through the first hurdle of losing the weight, but now need to worry about keeping those pounds off forever. Don’t despair about the long journey ahead! Think of it this way—weight-loss is just another one of those obstacles that life throws your way. And just like any other snag in the road, it’s much easier to overcome if you have the proper support system cheering you on from the side-lines.

One of the best ways to gain strength from numbers is to grab a “diet buddy” who shares your same goals. Experts agree that planning meals and work-out times is all well and good, but the people who do end up winning the battle of the budge are those who buddy- up to resist temptation and keep each other on track. In fact, one study on weight-loss found that people who had the support of friends were more likely to keep those pounds off after a 6-month period and less likely to give up on a weight-loss program.

The thing to remember is that having proper support doesn’t necessarily mean that you need someone to drag you out to the gym and monitor every bite you take. Emotional support can sometimes be the best kind—there’s noting like having a friend or family member boost you up when you’re feeling discouraged. Support can also be practical, like having a friend baby-sit your kids while you hit the gym or having a dietician to help you plan your meals.

Want some more ideas how to get motivated from your family, friends, and co-workers? Check these out:

Ask for help!

This is a big one. Describe your plans, goals, and obstacles to your family and friends. Don’t forget to explain how important their support is to your weight-loss success because we all know how much joy mothers derive from serving you extra helpings at dinner.

Just say NO!

Speaking of those extra portions, the people who care most about you are sometimes just not helpful to in your quest to lose weight. Explain to the people who are constantly shoving food in your face (you know the type) that you need their help to stay healthy.

Recruit for the cause!

Don’t be afraid to speak up about the health benefits of losing weight. If your friends and family join you in your quest to get regular exercise and eat healthier, chances are that you’ll become even more motivated to stick to your weight-loss plan.
